Speaker meets NATO Special Representative

Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Parliament Speaker, met Javier Colomina, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The Speaker thanked the NATO Special Representative for support of Georgia’s NATO integration aspirations.

The sides positively assessed the recently held NATO-Georgia Commission meeting and stressed the significance of high-level meetings and visits exchange.

Javier Colomina congratulated Georgia on EU candidate status, saying NATO and EU were two sides of one coin and both were equally important for the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

The parties spoke about the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections and the fulfilment of the EC’s newly defined nine steps.

Georgia’s Ambassador to NATO, Victor Dolidze and Defense and Security Committee Chair, Irakli Beraia, participated in the meeting.
