Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
According to the parliament’s press office, Bayramov congratulated Georgia on the victory of the Georgian football team at the European Championship, noting that “Georgia is also highly supported in Azerbaijan.”
“The parties underlined solid friendly ties between the countries and affirmed their commitment to further enhancing the strategic partnership.
The discourse included the bilateral and multilateral relations of the countries with an emphasis placed on the increasing significance of the middle corridor as a rapid and reliable route for energy transportation. The parties underlined the transport-energy projects and highlighted the importance of the Black Sea submarine cabling project. As noted, regional peace is imperative for the countries in the region.
The parties touched upon the peacebuilding agreement and negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. According to Shalva Papuashvili, Georgia stands committed to facilitating regional stability and peace, including within parliamentary diplomacy,” reads the statement.
