Speaker: Georgia's unemployment rate to surpass 21 EU countries, projecting historic 4% low

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili posted data on his Facebook page, demonstrating that unemployment has decreased to 13.7% under the Georgian Dream government’s leadership, and it will reach 4% – a rate lower than that of 21 European Union member states in four years.

According to Papuashvili, only a few EU countries maintain unemployment rates below 4%.

“Under the Georgian Dream government, unemployment has been cut in half, dropping from 26.7% to 13.7%. Within four years, the unemployment rate will reach its lowest point since independence at 4%, which is even lower than the current EU average of 6%. This will put our unemployment rate below that of 21 EU member states.

Currently, only the Netherlands, Germany, Malta, Slovenia, Poland, and the Czech Republic have unemployment rates below 4%, with the Czech Republic maintaining the lowest rate at 2.7%,” Papuashvili posted.
