Speaker: Georgian pseudo-liberals, like Bolsheviks, seek to demolish GOC domes

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said, in fact, Georgian pseudo-liberals are the reincarnation of the Bolsheviks, who have one goal – to demolish the domes of the Georgian Church.

The Speaker stated that there was a planned campaign against religious confession, and recently, civilians, NGOs, and some politicians have been debating the date for celebrating Christmas.

“This is crossing red lines and meddling in church affairs,” he said.

Shalva Papuashvili remarked on a recent “hysteria” over the Saint Matrona icon, adding NGO representatives and politicians “suddenly turned out to be iconographers.”

“They are interested in neither celebrating Christmas on December 25 nor January 7 nor who is depicted on the icon. It is a campaign against the Church, and in fact, the Georgian pseudo-liberals are the modern-day reincarnation of the Mauser-wielding Bolsheviks, who seek to tear down the domes of the Georgian Church,” he said.
