Speaker: Georgia-Spain agreement on driving licenses to be step towards EU integration

Signing an agreement between Georgia and Spain on mutual recognition of driving licenses “represents a tangible decision for ordinary citizens and is a step towards EU integration,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili.

“Georgia and Spain have mutually recognized national driving permits. Once the agreement comes into effect, individuals holding a valid driving permit issued by one of the parties will be able to acquire the equivalent driving permits in their state of legal residence without an extra test. This represents a tangible decision for ordinary citizens and is a step towards EU integration,” Papuashvili said.

On April 5, Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with his Spanish colleague, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez signed “Agreement between Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of National Driving Permits,” in Spain.
