Speaker: GD Gov't saved EU Military Mission in Central African Republic from disruption in 2014
“In 2014, when the European Union struggled to find member states willing to participate in the military mission in the Central African Republic, the Georgian Dream government stepped in to save the mission from disruption,” the Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, wrote on social network.
Papuashvili stated that Georgia was the only non-EU country involved in this challenging operation and the second largest contributor of troops after France.
“We must remember that in 2014, when the European Union could not find member states willing to participate in the military mission in the Central African Republic (EUFOR RCA), Georgia, following the decision of the Georgian Dream government, saved this mission by sending 150 soldiers. We were the only non-EU country in this most difficult operation and the second country with a military contingent after France,” wrote Shalva Papuashvili.
