“The campaign of the United National Movement (UNM) supporters that followed the sincere gratitude expressed by our prideworthy football players to Bidzina Ivanishvili (GD Honorable Chairman) exposed the UNM’s true face,” said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

As Papuashvili wrote on Facebook, the football players who were heroes yesterday, turned into traitors today for not sharing the spirit of the UNM.

Shalva Papuashvili remarked that the euphoria of success in football exposed features that the UNM had diligently tried to hide, but in emotional moments it is still obvious to everyone.

The Speaker believes that the October 26 parliamentary elections will be a referendum to “reject violence and intimidation, bullying and hatred, but confirm respect to moral and intellectual authorities and the church as a unifying force.”

“Therefore, the October 26 elections is about who we are and what is Georgia,” he said.

The Honorable Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Bidzina Ivanishvili and Charity Foundation Cartu have allocated GEL 30 million as a reward to the Georgian national football team for their incredible performances at UEFA EURO 2024.

On behalf of the team, Guram Kashia who captains the Georgia national team, thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Foundation Cartu, and the Georgian fans for their support.
