Speaker comments on Elene Khoshtaria's Police exchange: Clear display of slavery vs. service to nation

“This brief dialogue perfectly illustrates the distinction between slavery and service to one’s country,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, in response to the exchange between Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change,  and a law enforcement officer.

Khoshtaria told the officer, “The law states you must serve Europe, as outlined in Article 78 of the Constitution.” The officer replied, “I must serve my country.”

“This exchange underscores the fundamental disagreement between us and these so-called marginals,” Papuashvili commented on social media.
