Speaker believes Georgia expecting EC's assessment on Ilia Chavchavadze's birthday is not coincidence
“We believe Georgia will receive a worthy response from the European Commission on November 8, which is also the birthday of Ilia Chavchavadze (a Georgian public figure),” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
The Speaker took to Facebook to declare that today signifies the realization of Ilia Chavchavadze’s dream. Chavchavadze’s vision involved Georgia’s integration into the civilized world, where the importance of individuality is recognized. The Speaker also highlighted Chavchavadze’s self-sacrifice in the pursuit of Georgia’s freedom and self-determination.
“Ilia’s dream, to see Georgia worthy among other nations, is becoming a reality. We need Europe, Europe needs us,” Papuashvili said.
The European Commission will publish the annual EU enlargement report on November 8, assessing Georgia’s fulfilment of the 12-point recommendations, which the EC outlined for the country in June 2022 and based on which the European Council will make a political decision on Georgia’s EU candidate status. In June 2022, the European Council granted a European Perspective to Georgia.
