Spain, Georgia sign agreement on recognition of driving licenses

Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with his Spanish colleague, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez signed “Agreement between Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of National Driving Permits,” in Spain.

Gomelauri thanked Spanish colleague for his significant contribution in deepening current cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Spain.

“The Agreement defines the classes of driving permits that will be subject to exchange after the Agreement enters into force, namely the exchange of AM, A1, A2, A, B, B+E driving licenses will be possible without passing theoretical or practical test, and as for the C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E, D and D+E driving permits, applicants will have to pass a driving test on roads open to general traffic, using a vehicle or set of vehicles the driving of which is authorized by said permits,” reads the ministry’s statement.
