The information as if women are forced to go naked during checking in penitentiary facilities is not true – Sophio Kiladze, Parliamentary majority MP said.

Kiladze clarified that female prisoners have the option to choose inspection by a scanner. The only exception is made when checking the patient by a gynaecologist. Kiladze said that inspection was obligatory not to admit importing of a prohibited item in the prison.

The 109 female prisoners are on hunger strike at #5 Penitentiary Facility of Ministry of Penitentiary, Probation and Legal Assistance.

According to the information available to First Channel, the prisoners are protesting over the report of Human Right Center and Public Defender based on which nakedness is still practiced at the prison as checking method.
