Slovak Parliament’s Foreign Committee backs Georgia’s European future
Foreign Affairs Committee of Slovakia’s National Council adopted a resolution in support of Georgia’s European perspective.
According to the Georgian parliament, the Committee recognizes the importance of demonstrating clear support for Georgia’s European future and fully backs intensification of EU-Slovakia political, diplomatic activities to contribute to this perspective.
“Since Slovakia’s joining the EU, the expansion of EU has been the priority of Slovakia’s foreign and European policy. Accession of neighboring Ukraine into EU is a new challenge. We should not forget about other countries either those with who the Slovak Republic has long-term partnership relations and which expressed their desire to join the EU.
In this context, we want to note Georgia, which officially applied for the EU membership and wants to join NATO. To reach the goal, it is important to increase efforts for the fulfillment of the required criteria,” reads the resolution.
