Slovak FM says Georgia to get candidate status if meets certain conditions

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korcok says that the recommendations presented by the European Commission have broad support.

According to him, Slovakia supports the European perspective of all three countries. He added “all three countries have expressed a desire to live in the EU, so they must not be victims of geopolitics.”

“We believe this is an unprecedented but very needed decision under unprecedented circumstances. Slovakia absolutely supports the European perspective for all three countries. There are certain conditions that are to be met. These three nations and their citizens see their future in the EU. All three countries have expressed a desire to live in the EU, so they must not be victims of geopolitics. That is exactly the opposite of what we want to achieve. The way is the individual for each country. We have excellent relations with Georgia, and we support it. If conditions are met, I am absolutely certain that Georgia will be on board,” Slovak Foreign Minister said.
