Six persons, detained for illegal sale of psychotropic substances, sentenced to imprisonment
Six persons, including Gia Tvalavadze, Head of the Agency for Regulation of Medical Activities under Georgia’s Ministry of Health, who were detained on September 24 on charge of illegal sale of psychotropic substances, have been sentenced to imprisonment.
The Prosecutor’s Office demanded a prison sentence as a preventive measure for the detainees. Judge Ekaterine Kululashvili made the decision.
“Why are you arresting me? I will commit suicide and shame on you!,” Natela Mamulashvili, one of the detainees, said after the judge announced the decision.
State Security Service determined that psychotropic substances were sold without control in 15 pharmacies in Tbilisi and Gori.
