Shooting near occupied Abkhazia's parliament claims life of so-called MP
Vakhtang Golandzia, a member of the so-called parliament of occupied Abkhazia, has died after sustaining injuries in a shooting near the building.
Local media outlets, citing the so-called Ministry of Health, confirmed the tragic news.
Initial reports indicated that both Golandzia and his fellow MP Kan Kvarchia were injured in the shooting and required intensive care.
According to Robert Kiut, the so-called acting Minister of Internal Affairs, the suspect has been identified as so-called MP Adgur Kharazia, who fled the scene following the incident.
Witnesses reported that the shooting occurred during a discussion concerning a bill to ban mining. Local media sources stated that a dispute erupted between Kharazia and Kvarchia, during which Kharazia drew a firearm and shot Kvarchia. Golandzia, who attempted to intervene to assist his colleagues, was fatally wounded in the altercation.
The incident took place approximately one hour ago.
