“Shindisi” directed by Dimitri Tsintsadze, has ranked among the contender films of Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) announced on Monday the lineup for the 35th edition, which will run January 15 to 25, 2020.
The festival will feature 47 world premieres and 71 U.S. premieres from 50 countries, along with tributes with the year’s top talent, panel discussions and free community education and outreach programs.
“Shindisi” has won the Grand Prix at the Warsaw International Film Festival. Dimitri Tsintsadze additionally won in the nomination of the Best Director.
The film is based on the real story of the Shindisi battle during the August 2008 Georgia-Russia war. Seventeen Georgian soldiers lost their lives in an unequal battle with the Russian military unit in Shindisi village.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is an eleven-day film festival held in Santa Barbara, California since 1986.
