Shepherd charged for murder of Smith family imposed imprisonment

Malkhaz Kobauri, 19-year-old shepherd charged for murder of Smith family members in Khada Gorge of Dusheti region, has been imposed imprisonment.

The charged person does not plead guilty. Kobauri told Mtskheta Regional Court that he did not kill the American couple and their child. He claimed that two foreign men killed them and threatened him with killing of his family members.

American couple Ryan and Lora Smith and their 4-year-old son Caleb were murdered in the Khada Gorge, Dusheti region of Georgia. Police detained 19-year-old shepherd, Malkhaz Kobauri, in connection with the case. Kobauri faces from 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
