The position of chief prosecutor is vacant as Shalva Tadumadze has been appointed as the lifetime judge of the Supreme Court. Prior to the nomination for the position of the chief prosecutor, Tadumadze was appointed as the head of the government administration.
The Georgian parliament has approved 14 of the total 19 candidates for lifetime judges of the Georgian Supreme Court today.
The interviewing process of candidates launched on September 20 at the Legal Issues Committee. The interviews were held according to the American model and monitored by OSCE/ODIHR representative.
