Several opposition MPs request to attend Legal Affairs Committee session
Several opposition MPs, including Khatuna Samnidze, Tamar Kordzaia, Ani Tsitlidze, and Paata Manjgaladze, are demanding to attend the Legal Affairs Committee discussion.
The opposition MPs appealed to the Parliament Vice-Speaker, Levan Ioseliani, to voice their request. Vice-Speaker promised to follow the issue since he thinks the opposition should attend today’s meeting.
Khatia Dekanoidze also arrived at the parliament a few minutes ago. She was allowed to enter the meeting by security personnel.
The physical and verbal altercation occurred during Legal Affairs Committee’s sitting. Anri Okhanashvili, the committee’s chairman, requested that the law enforcement officers remove some MPs from the hall because they were chanting from their seats, inciting tension.
The Committee is reviewing the Transparency of Foreign Influence and Foreign Agents Registration Act bills with the first reading. The parliamentary People’s Power faction drafted both bills.
