Sergey Mironov does not rule out deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh
Sergey Mironov, Leader of ‘Fair Russia’ faction at the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, does not rule out deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces in the conflict region of Nagorno-Karabakh after reaching a ceasefire agreement – RIA Novosti news agency reported.
“Unfortunately, we see that NATO-member Turkey is trying to steer up the conflict rather than any obstructive external force. I believe that after reaching a ceasefire agreement between the countries, deployment of peacekeeping forces may become necessary on part of the Russian Federation,” Mironov said.
Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan broke out on Sunday over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. At least 32 separatist soldiers from the Armenia-backed Nagorno-Karabakh region had been killed in the flare-up of violence since Sunday morning, the separatists’ Defence Ministry said on Monday.
