Salome Zourabichvili: Elections rigged, opposition not adequately prepared
“Free elections are the way out of the crisis and we have to prepare for the next elections,” said Salome Zourabichvili, former president when addressing locals in Zugdidi town of the western Samegrelo region.
Salome Zourabichvili believes new political parties should be established to feature “new Georgia being born today” since “diversity is the strength of this country.”
According to Salome Zourabichvili, preparations for tomorrow day should be launched today.
“We should not be unprepared for the next elections. We are working with all forces to provide the environment that will meet the minimum conditions so that we, you, all of us can believe that the elections are truly free and protected. If we want peace, freedom and democracy we should ensure the well-prepared elections that will be fully protected,” she said.
Salome Zourabichvili said she believed the opposition was not prepared for the October 26 parliamentary elections.
“We know well that the last elections were rigged with refined methods plotted and dictated from abroad. However, the truth is that we were not adequately prepared. We felt confident that we outnumbered them, which was right and had no doubt of victory.
We must be sure this time too, but we must also be prepared. It is our duty, your duty, my duty. We are together in this peaceful fight, and we definitely win together,” she said.
