Saakashvili's system has tens of thousands of victims, perpetrators must face justice, Parliament Speaker says
The National Movement is running a two-month campaign, with calls followed by pressure, whether by protests near the President’s residence or through appeals, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated.
“This campaign produced one good thing,” Papuashvili says, “no one thinks about Mikheil Saakashvili as a political prisoner.”
“He’s already been sentenced for two offences and is facing charges for three more. Everyone agrees that Saakashvili has committed a crime,” Parliament Speaker declared.
He went on: “Thousands and tens of thousands of people have become victims of Saakashvili’s system. Of course, it is critical for these victims that the perpetrator get the appropriate legal penalty”.
