Russians and Belarussians banned from European Games

The European Olympic Committee (EOC) banned the participation of Russian and Belarussian athletes in the European Games 2023, a continental multi-sport event in the Olympic tradition contested by athletes from European nations and several transcontinental countries.

“Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be competing at the European Games Krakow Malopolska 2023 in any capacity,” the EOC said.

The European Games 2023 will run from June 21 to July 2 in Poland, in a bid to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
