Robin Dunnigan: We see Georgians commitment to Euro-Atlantic path over and over again

Robin Dunnigan, Nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, on Thursday, addressed U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee and answered the Senators’ questions.

Asked about the recent protests in Georgia over the so-called foreign agent’s bill, Dunnigan said “they were reflective of the Georgian people’s desire to have their future firmly integrated with the west and the EU. We see this over and over again – the people of Georgia’s commitment to this path. And I think it is in our national interest to support this path.”

“I do believe Russia is implementing malign activities in Georgia, including disinformation, and that is having an impact on the country and that’s why I think our assistance to help them implement their democratic reforms is so essential. The EU laid out 12 reforms that Georgia needs to implement in order to obtain EU candidate status, and if confirmed, I would work closely with the government to support them in implementing those reforms,” she stated.
