Road construction connecting Georgia to Chechnya never considered, Infrastructure Ministry says

Georgia has never considered and will not do so the construction of a road connecting Georgia with Russia’s Chechnya republic, according to the readout of the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.

The Ministry remarked on media reports over a Russian Security Council discussion of a road project connecting Georgia to Chechnya.

“The issue of road construction has never been on the agenda, therefore, the information about such an initiative is false. We urge Georgian media outlet to provide Georgia-verified information in a bid to avoid misleading the population,” the Ministry stressed.
