Report of Acting US Secretary of Defense speaks about threats from Russia and  Russia's invasion of Georgia

The report prepared by the acting United States Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Dunford submitted to Assignments Committee of US Senate speaks about threats from Russia, Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008 and the occupation of territories. Report concerns fiscal 2020 Department of Defense budget request.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia released this information.

According to the Ministry, the report speaks about the new US defense strategy, the growing threats from Russia, the role of US partners and the importance of the US role.

It emphasizes the trend of modernization of Russian military capabilities, as well as stresses on the facts of using military force by Russia against neighboring countries and Russia’s attempts to prevent sovereign democratic processes of other countries.
