Reconstruction of Gergeti Sameba church launches

Reconstruction of the Gergeti Sameba (Trinity) church complex in the Kazbegi municipality has been launched, the Georgian National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation reported.

According to the Agency, the roof will be replaced, water systems rearranged, and the exterior and interior renovations conducted. Water was leaking from the roof, damaging walls and the plinth.

Java Constructions LTD, which won the tender, will carry out reconstruction works. The Agency allocated GEL 614,000.

The Gergeti Trinity Church dates back to the 14th century and is one of the popular attractions for tourists.
