Punishment for family violence to become stricter
Punishment for family violence to become stricter

The law, prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) about family violence and family-related crimes, has been enforced starting today.

A person, who violates deterrent order, will be held criminally responsible. Crime will be considered as grave to a person, who has committed family violence in the past.

The law has become stricter for family violence committed in presence of a juvenile. Family violence will be punished with imprisonment up to 2 years instead of a 1-year prison term.
