Punishment to become stricter for conceal of crime, non-notification and refusal to testify

Punishment will become stricter for conceal of crime, non-notification, refusal to testify and giving of false evidence in Criminal Code of Georgia at the initiative of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to MIA, making of changes were preconditioned by the problems regarding cooperation with law-enforcement bodies.

Punishment will vary based on differentiation of minor and grave crimes. According to the current edition, conceal of crime is punished with imprisonment term from 1 to 3 years, non-notification – from 2 to 4 years in prison. Sanctions will become stricter for refusal to testify and giving of false evidence.
