Public Service Development Agency tags statement of NGOs as ‘irresponsible,’ plans to complain in court
The Public Service Development Agency of Justice Ministry tagged the statement, made by three non-governmental organizations about the possible production of fake ID documents ahead of the second round of 2018 presidential elections with the purpose of rigging the polls, as merely being ‘irresponsible.’ The agency said it plans to file a lawsuit in the court.
Soso Giorgadze, Head of the Agency claimed that the statement has nothing to do with the truth, and called on the NGOs for refraining from making defamatory and reckless statements. “This is an accusation we will never reconcile with,” Giorgadze stated.
Non-governmental organizations called on law enforcement agencies to get interested in the cases of alleged falsification of elections. NGOs – Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, Transparency International – Georgia and Fair Elections held a press conference, where they talked about possible fraud scheme and falsification of ID documents.
