Public Defender pledges to keep all monitoring mechanisms on Saakashvili's issue
Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, assured Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia’s ex-President, of retaining all monitoring mechanisms under the Ombudsman’s Office.
Ioseliani met the former President at the Vivamed clinic on Sunday.
“Mikheil Saakashvili was among the prisoners I saw yesterday at the Vivamed facility. We spoke for around one hour. I didn’t speak to the doctors because they weren’t there. I affirmed that the Public Defender’s Office would continue to use all monitoring tools, including Consilium, the Office’s supervision of his health,” Ioseliani explained.
Ioseliani stated in response to a journalist’s inquiry regarding Saakashvili’s health that he lacked both the authority and the knowledge to provide a medical evaluation.
The Public Defender announced he would meet with the Office’s medical council members this week.
