Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani met representatives of religious organizations on July 25-26, the Public Defender’s Office reported.
The meeting participants reviewed the role of religion in the country’s development and the challenges of tolerance and freedom of faith.
Levan Ioseliani spoke about the Public Defender’s mandate in the protection of religious freedoms and investigations of hatred-motivated crimes on religious grounds.
At the meeting, the participants focused on the new system of military summoning, the reconstruction of churches and monuments of cultural heritage, and the right to conduct prayers and hold religious holidays by representatives of religious minorities.
