Public Defender meets protesting parents of children with achondroplasia
Georgia’s Public Defender Levan Ioseliani on Monday met with the protesting parents of children with achondroplasia, demanding that appropriate medicines [Vosoritide] be imported into the country and funded.
In the meeting with the parents, holding the protest rally at the government administration, Ioseliani pledged that together with the Health Ministry, the Public Defender was actively involved in the working group to solve the problem “in the best interests of children.”
The Public Defender stated that professionals should discuss the safety of the medication.
“From a medical standpoint, if this medication meets all of the criteria, it should be available for children. Naturally, the Public Defender’s Office cannot accept responsibility for the drug’s importation, quality, or outcome,” he added.
