Public Defender 'fully gets' developments surrounding alleged wedding party
Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani said he “fully understands” the developments surrounding the alleged wedding party of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s family members in Kvareli Lake Resort.
“When your country is occupied, such visits, especially when the children of high-ranking persons arrive, are perceived sensitively. The protesters’ outrage is understandable,” he stated.
The police detained around 17 protesters who gathered at the resort after Mtavari Arkhi channel and Elene Khoshtaria on Friday alleged that Lavrov’s daughter and her husband were staying in Kvareli Lake Resort and the hotel would be hosting the wedding party of Lavrov’s family members.
Ioseliani said, “Within our rights, we do our best to protect the rights of detained people.”
