Protesting parents demand PM sign act on Vosoritide import timeframe
The group of protesting parents of children with achondroplasia demands that Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili sign a legal act, that would outline the timeframe for the government to import the drug “Vosoritide” for treating the condition.
“We are tense, devastated. The process will take a while if they can’t give us a specific date. We cannot stop protesting until there is a signature, a guarantee that our children will be healthy, and they’ll start Vosoritide medication on September 1st,” said one of the parents, Salome Gabelashvili.
Another parent, Maka Gichiashvili, remarked in response to the Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili’s earlier request for them to continue the conversation “at the working table, in a constructive format,” saying that “it will be interesting to hold a dialogue, although their [parents] main demand concerns the deadlines for the bringing medicine in the country.”
“Of course, we find this kind of communication uncomfortable, so we’ll go there. There shouldn’t be any more hazy conversation,” Gochiashvili added.
