Procedures for change of surnames becomes strict

Procedures for change of names and surnames in Georgia will become strict upon agreement with European Union and its member states – Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgian Prime Minister stated during the governmental session.

Prime Minister said that certain problems and challenges arose with respect to visa liberalization and a complex plan was prepared in their resolution. Kvirikashvili said that Justice Ministry had said that citizens were entering EU member states with different names and the proposed changes would be one of the best means to hamper the risk of suspension mechanism’s activation.
