Presidential Administration denies confirming Nika Gilauri's candidacy for prime minister
The Presidential Administration has confirmed that President Salome Zourabichvili met with former Prime Minister Nika Gilauri today. However, the press service clarified that they do not confirm Gilauri as a candidate for the position of prime minister.
Earlier, the media reported that Gilauri is being considered as the prime ministerial candidate for a ‘technical government’ proposed by Zourabichvili. The meeting between the two reportedly took place behind closed doors at the Orbeliani Palace.
On October 12, President Zourabichvili announced her intention to form a technical government ahead of the elections.
Nika Gilauri previously served as Georgia’s Prime Minister from 2009 to 2012. Before that, he held key ministerial roles, including Minister of Finance (2007-2009) and Minister of Energy.
