President Zourabichvili explains reason "beyond her control" for dropping participation in Europalia Georgia
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday sent an official letter to Philippe, king of Belgium, expressing ‘sincere sorrow’ that she would not be able to attend the inauguration of Europalia Georgia owing to “two reasons completely independent of my will.”
“Your Majesty, have faith in my sincere desire to have Georgia represented at the highest level during the opening of a new important chapter in the relations between our countries, as we agreed upon at our meeting on January 21, 2021.
Unfortunately, two reasons completely independent of my will – the government’s unjustified refusal to participate in the event and the Constitutional Court’s scheduled consideration of my impeachment submission on October 3 and 4, render it completely impossible for me to carry out my representative duty,” she stated.
