President Zelensky says rights of Ukrainian citizen Saakashvili to be fully protected
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the rights of the Ukrainian citizen, jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili should be fully protected per international norms.
Zelensky wrote on Twitter that he had a telephone conversation with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili about Mikheil Saakashvili’s case following the request of Saakashvili’s mother, relatives and Ukrainian doctors.
“In a phone conversation with Irakli Garibashvili, I stressed that the rights of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili must be fully guaranteed in accordance with international norms. Applied for admission of Mikheil Saakashvili’s mother, relatives, and Ukrainian doctors to him,” the Ukrainian President tweeted.
On October 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged to raise the issue of Mikheil Saakashvili, the ex-President of Georgia and Head of the Executive Committee, National Reforms Council of Ukraine, at all levels to return him to Ukraine.
