President: We need to go to polls which requires greatest mobilization
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday remarked on the ruling party’s recent move to reintroduce the Law on the Transparency of Foreign Influence, saying “Georgian Dream said “no” to Europe in all directions.”
The President believes “the Georgian Dream is engaged in sabotaging Georgia’s European path and the future of the country.”
“Georgian Dream made its bid very clearly, saying “no” to Europe on all fronts. In the previous recommendations and today’s nine recommendations, on all possible issues that determine our future and the beginning of accession negotiations, a clear “no” has been stated in all areas. We received a kind of retainer from Europe, and today, the Georgian Dream is busy sabotaging our path and our future. Sabotage is the only word that came to mind,” Zourabichvili asserted.
The President noted that the reintroduction of the law coincides with the week between 31 March and 9 April which is filled with national spirit, “but you [GD] don’t have either national or European spirit.”
“The answer to all this, this usury, rudeness, and immense insult to Georgia, which is called the Russian law and Russian path, is one and the only – it is to cast our European say at elections. The overwhelming majority in the country knows what they want, and they want an independent European future for this country.
We need to go to the polls. This requires the greatest mobilization. Not hopelessness, depression, pessimism, or unrest, but preparation. Preparations to participate in elections under one European flag, perhaps with multiple parties, but under one European flag.
The European Action Plan that we are working on, and under the auspices of which we will unite, does not mean the unification of parties, but their expansion, and most importantly, it means the unification of society and national harmony regarding European choice. I will hold this flag to the end and will be with you to the end so that we, Europe and European Georgia, win the next elections,” she stated.
