President to engage in dialogue with pro-Western parties on snap elections, PM candidate

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili announces that she will engage in dialogue with pro-Western parties regarding snap elections and the prime ministerial candidate.

A journalist from GPB First Channel asked the President, “What will ensure the implementation of the conditions outlined in the Charter? Is there a possibility that any individual actor might change their mind and refuse to relinquish power after one year?”

“The most important aspect of the Charter is its focus on fulfilling the recommendations that were previously given but not implemented, as well as on returning the country to its European path. This is the essence of the Charter. In today’s elections, people are voting more for Europe than for any particular party; this is essentially a referendum.

Therefore, it is probably advisable to hold new elections in a year under free conditions and in a fully liberated environment. However, as with the prime ministerial candidate and all other matters, I will engage in dialogue with pro-Western parties, and where there is consensus, that is where I will align myself,” stated Salome Zourabichvili.
