President says no peace in isolation, without partners

“There will be no peace in isolation or without our partners. Georgia will not have resources to strengthen its army to protect the country,” said Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.

The President remarked on the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner exercise in Georgia, saying this is “inflicting harm to our strategic partnership with the US and defence capabilities of the Georgian army.”

According to Salome Zourabichvili, the government does not acknowledge who is a friend and who is an adversary.

“Everything is already in great danger, and this is only because the government could not understand or acknowledge where are its friends, where are its enemies and what needs to be done, where is the peace of this country.

There will be no peace in isolation or without our partners. Georgia will not have the resources to strengthen its army not to open imaginary fronts but to protect the country. Protection is in preparation and this preparation today is under hazard,” she said.

On July 5, the US Department of State announced the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner exercise in Georgia, originally scheduled for July 25 – August 6, 2024, as part of the US-Georgia relationship review.
