President says ex-president Saakashvili's arrival suit interests of both sides

“For over one year, we are fully stuck around the dispute of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili. There seems to be no other issue, the country is plunged in this issue and this suits the interests of both sides,” said President Salome Zourabichvili at Wednesday’s briefing.

The President spoke about the rally held earlier this afternoon at the presidential residence noting that she saw many with who she fought together against Saakashvili’s “criminal and unfair regime.”

According to Salome Zourabichvili, the rally conveyed different “message boxes” and it could be interpreted as a “game between somewhat confronted forces, which are comfortable with their co-existence.”

President believes that the two forces were in the agreement with Mikheil Saakashvili’s arrival in Georgia. In her words, some called on Saakashvili to arrive for a revolution to follow, some tested the ex-president’s courage.

President Zourabichvili said she was bullied and pressured.

“They threaten me with some career telling me I will say goodbye to my career, some argue that I want some other career, they forget how old I am. If anyone knows me in this country, I left my career a long time ago, I am only interested in this country, and its European future, which everyone is fighting for and no one sees that our society wants it and our public will accept it regardless of everything. I am here, you are here and we will walk this path whatever happens, despite pressure and attempts of blackmailing in different forms,” she said.
