President opens international conference Local Governance – Effectiveness and Challenges
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili opened the international conference Local Governance in Georgia – Effectiveness and Challenges, and addressed the guests from Poland, US, Canada and Israel.
President said that local governance was vitally significant for democracy. She noted that local governances had to independently take decisions; the populations had to be engaged in the distribution of the budget.
“With the wider involvement of citizens, we will achieve a lot – more democracy, depolarization, because when citizens are involved over a specific issue, there is less political tension,” said Salome Zourabichvili.
