President met Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia has held a meeting with Tarō Kōno, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, as part of his visit to Tbilisi. President Margvelashvili has assessed Tarō Kōno’s visit as historic, highlighting its positive impact on friendly ties and cooperation between Georgia and Japan. As noted, Tarō Kōno’s visit stresses Japan’s support for Georgia.

The meeting focused on the economic cooperation between Georgia and Japan. As stated, the Japanese Government, through the International Cooperation Agency, will allocate financial resources to Georgia that will be used for the construction of the East-West highway.

According to President Margvelashvili, intensification of high-level visits encourages the Japanese business sector to view Georgia as an attractive investment destination.
While discussing Georgia’s occupied territories, President Margvelashvili has thanked Tarō Kōno for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

To mark President Margvelashvili’s birthday, Tarō Kōno has presented him with traditional Japanese cake.
