Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili hosted the first public discussion about the national accord process with the participation of female representatives of different spheres at the Orbeliani Palace.
“This is a process which begins and ends with conversation. This process will have the catharsis role to say the truth and consider our mistakes, crimes and admit some of them. Society gives orders to the political sector. The society has the voice and could steer this process,” President Zourabichvili said.
President remarked that for 30 years, the country was “sunk in confrontation” and the Georgian society was divided into two parts.
She proposed a new space to bring the ideas, initiatives and see how the government could respond to them. This process has to be lively and inclusive, open, free of hatred and insult.
“Nobody has to have the feeling of injustice because this also serves as the reason for polarization,” she claimed.
Georgian President noted that she was ready to create a joint document that would list some items, demands and principles to agree. “I will communicate these demands of the society to the political parties and parliament,” Salome Zourabichvili said.
