Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili remarked on the Belarussian President’s arrival in the occupied Abkhazia region, saying she “condemns” his visit.
“I strongly condemn Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to occupied Abkhazia. This is an unacceptable violation of Georgia’s Law on Occupied Territories and the principles of our bilateral relations and international law,” the President tweeted.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of Belarus to Georgia following the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to the occupied Abkhazia region. As previously reported, Alexander Lukashenko arrived in occupied Abkhazia and met with its de facto leader Aslan Bzhania in Bichvinta.
While in office, it was the first time Alexander Lukashenko entered occupied Abkhazia. It is noteworthy that Belarus does not recognize the independence of the occupied Abkhazia or Tskhinvali region.
