President calls on Mamuka Khazaradze, Giorgi Gakharia to unite their parties

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday called on Mamuka Khazaradze and Giorgi Gakharia to unite their parties and invited them for consultations at the Orbeliani Palace.

The President believes “the last stage of negotiations should be held immediately.”

“It is vital to simplify the options for the opposition votes by providing a positive third option for indecisive voters. The choice is in the hands of two pro-European forces: “Strong Georgia” and “Gakharia for Georgia”.

I hope that at such a vital time for the country, they will be able to take the steps that will provide people with more clarity, certainty, and a sense of strength. Mamuka Khazaradze and Giorgi Gakharia have openly indicated their readiness, which I applaud.

The election timetable allows little time for a final choice. As a result, I will call both political factions to the Orbeliani Palace tomorrow so that the last round of discussions may begin immediately.

I wholeheartedly support and want to see this process through to completion and triumph. I am confident that this is what society expects of you,” Zourabichvili concluded.
