President: As elections failed, no parliament, gov't, nor presidential elections can be set up
“As the elections failed to be held, no parliament, the government, nor the presidential elections can be set up; no arrests, no ousting,” Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said at today’s briefing.
Zourabichvili presented the plan starting with new elections which rely on the following issues:
“First, an international investigation not for international partners telling us what we all know well but to identify and prove the systemic flaws that existed; if we want to get new, fair and free elections, we should be able to staff a new election administration, change the Election Code in considiration of the OSCE/ODHIR requirements.
Additionally, by establishing proper procedures for opening polling stations abroad, and along with this, creating a special disputes court for electoral conflicts. Our foreign partners should be involved in these instances.
Secondly, maintaining the political configuration that existed before October 26, with the existing parliament, government and president, so that the transition period to new elections is as stable as possible,” she stated.
