President appoints Kakha Tsikarishvili as Council of Justice non-judge member
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has appointed Kakha Tsikarishvili as a non-judge member of the Council of Justice, announced Giorgi Mskhiladze, the parliamentary secretary of the president, during a briefing at the presidential administration.
“Despite the president’s authority to make such appointments unilaterally, Zourabichvili established a selection commission on June 21 to ensure transparency.
Following the commission’s completion and presentation of two candidates, the president issued a decree appointing Tsikarishvili to the Supreme Council of Justice,” Mskhiladze stated.
He hopes this process will serve as a positive precedent for future judicial appointments in Georgia.
